GRANT PROJECTS
The granting of economic subsidies for innovation in companies is a government policy instrument widely used in developed countries, operated in accordance with the rules of the World Trade Organization. Launched in Brazil in August 2006, this was the first time that an instrument of this type was made available in the country.
The objective of the Economic Subsidy Program is to promote a significant increase in innovation activities and increase the competitiveness of companies and the country's economy.
Grant projects are not continuous, that is, they depend on the opening of public calls (notices) from agencies such as FINEP and CNPQ, for example. Each call has the desired characteristics (areas, themes, etc.) that need to be met by the projects. And the companies are classified according to their size, and thus fit in according to the respective resource request limits.
This type of financial support consists of the application of non-reimbursable public resources (which do not need to be returned) directly to companies, to share with them the costs and risks inherent to such activities.
FINANCING PROJECTS
This type of financial support consists of the application of non-reimbursable public resources (which do not need to be returned) directly to companies, to share with them the costs and risks inherent to such activities.
PAYMENT TERMS
INTEREST RATES

The terms vary according to variables such as the size of the company, the type of project and the degree of innovation it represents. Despite the variation, in any situation the terms are quite attractive, ranging from 36 to 48 months of grace period, with payment between 120 and 144 months. In other words, companies can start paying in 3 or 4 years after the start of the project and, from then on, start paying off the installment plan over 10 or 12 years.
Just like the terms, the interest rates are quite attractive and vary between 0.11 and 2.70% per year (approximately) depending on the same variables that determine the terms. In addition, the funds raised through financing will cover between 80 and 90% of the project. The agencies always require a minimum counterpart of 10 to 20%.
